Easter Sunday 2023: Egg hunts in El Paso and Easter Bunny pictures

El Paso children always look forward to Easter celebrations with their families, whether they have egg hunts or crack cascarones on their relatives' heads.

Some families make the tradition to go to the annual Easter parade, where participants hand out candy and lots of smiles.

And New Mexico also has some fun activities to offer those who want to take a field trip.

Here is a guide to Easter activities planned in El Paso and New Mexico.

The 45th TMO NorthEaster Parade will start at 10 a.m. April 8 in Northeast El Paso. The parade starts on Diana Drive and proceeds for about a mile or so. It is a community parade with nonprofit organizations, youth organizations and other units and a fun way to kick off Easter weekend.

Hop to the El Paso Zoo for the Extravaganza from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. April 8-9. Have fun watching the animals with their Easter eggs. Take a picture with the Easter bunny, enjoy live performances and learn facts about animals in a fun way. Free with zoo admission. Memberships are valid for this event.

The Horizon City Police Department is geared up for the Egg Hunt, from 10 to 11 a.m. April 8 at 14400 Golden Eagle Park.

There will be two egg hunts for two age ranges. The egg hunt for kids 3-7 years old will be at 10 a.m. The second egg hunt for kids 7 and older will begin at 10:30 a.m.

The community of Socorro will have its Color Run & Easter Eggstravaganza Saturday at Bulldog Championship Park, 316 Buford Road. Registration for the color run is $8 per person and include race T-shirt, water bottle and paint packet while supplies last.

The 3k fun Color Run starts at 7 a.m. The Easter Eggstravaganza will take place after the race and will include information booths, door prizes, face painting, jumping balloons, activities, giveaways, and more. The Easter Egg hunt will be at noon. Information: 915-860-8615.

The Upper Valley Artist & Farmers Market will have a fun Easter Market event from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. April 8 at 300 Farm Road 259 in Canutillo. There will be more than 150 vendors, live music, a big Easter egg hunt and food trucks.

Surrendered Ministries will have a community egg hunt with more than 1,000 hidden eggs, free games and cake walk at 10 a.m. April 8 at 8617 North Loop Drive. $1 hot dog, chip combo. The event is free.

Cielo Vista Mall will offer a Caring Bunny for pictures with children with special needs and their families from 10 to 11:30 a.m. March 26. The regular Bunny Photo Experience will be from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday-Friday, from 10 to 8 p.m. Saturdays and from noon to 6 p.m. Sundays through April 8. Pet photos will be offered from 6 to 8 p.m. March 19.

La Union Corn Maze will have its first spring fling, April 1-2, and 8-9. Event times will be from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturdays, and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sundays. Fun activities will include a small oat maze, slides, rubber duck races, the cow train, and pedal carts. The big maze is only open for fall activities.

Participants will include Sombra Antigua Vineyards and Winery, Calhoun Flower Farms and Miles to Go Cafecita. Tickets are $13.09, excluding fees, and available online at the launioncornmaze.com

The Nichols Ranch and Orchard will offer a fun day of activities including an Easter egg hunt, a petting zoo, food trucks and music, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 8 at 236 Cottonwood Canyon, in La Luz, N.M. Information: nicholsranchandorchard.com
