As the trailer starts, we see our good friend Owen Wilson back as Mobius. He’s walking down a hallway with Loki (Tom Hiddleston), calling for someone named O.B. They walk into a large oval-shaped room filled with all kinds of bits and bobs, and Ke Huy Quan descends from the ceiling, probably just dropping in from the multiverse in Everything Everywhere All at Once. Then, all of a sudden, Loki glitches out and disappears. O.B. (Ke Huy Quan) explains that this is called “time slipping,” and it should be impossible inside the TVA.
First, it’s great to see Oscar-winner Ke Huy Quan return to a new role. And his character’s name O.B. likely stands for Ouroboros, the name of the mythical dragon which eats its own tale. It’s a symbol of infinity and is often used to describe the shape of time or a kind of journey.
Loki’s time slipping looks a lot like what happens to Scott Lang in Quantumania when one of his possibilities gets destroyed by Kang’s probability field. It also looks much like what happens to a few Spider-people when they start glitching out in the Spider-Verse movies. Given that this has to do with time, Kang, and the multiverse, all of these errors in time could be connected. How? We’re not sure yet.
But as Loki slips through time, he lands in several different places—one of those being a jet ski dealership. When Loki appears in front of one of those wacky wavy inflatable arm-flailing tube men, behind him are several jet skis, and it looks like someone is buying them. This might be the time before Mobius had joined the TVA and was simply a humble jet ski salesman.
Remember, when we last left Loki, he had blinked into a different timeline and encountered a Mobius who had no idea who he was. This might be the moment when Loki pulls Mobius Prime out of the regular timeline and into the TVA. In a similar fashion, there are parts of the trailer showing Sylvie working at McDonald's. According to Sylvie's new wardrobe, it’s the 1970s, and according to her facial expression, she doesn’t seem to be there on purpose.
Later the trailer shows us a crowded movie premiere for a film called Zaniac. This is a bit of a deep cut, but Zaniac refers to a group of monsters from an old Thor comic. They were tiny parasitic demons from the Dark Dimension (read our trailer breakdown of The Marvels for more on this). As they invaded Earth, they turned people into monsters giving them an uncontrollable urge to kill women.
Along with being tiny monsters, it is also the name of a real in-comic book movie starring Brad Wolfe. In the trailer, we can see someone holding a sign that says “Marry me Brad Wolfe,” so we can assume the handsome man getting in the car is none other than the movie’s star.

In the movie, he portrays a serial killer, but eventually, he does get possessed by the actual villain Zaniac. He turns into a monster and goes on a killing rampage trying to murder Jane Foster. Obviously, something different will happen in Loki, but this is the source of this reference.
When we finally see Victor Timely, he and those around him are all dressed in that turn-of-the-century garb we saw in Quantumania. But what’s interesting is that this location may have a loose connection to the Stark Expo we saw in the first Captain America movie.
In the 1940s expo in Captain America: The First Avenger, there was an exhibit from Phineas Horton. Horton created the first Human Torch android, but he also worked with Victor Timely earlier in his life. This may be the same location for a different expo, but it’s more likely this park was modeled after the Chicago World’s Fair in 1893.
Loki season 2 will premiere on Disney+ on Oct. 6, 2023.
