You Can Turn Google Pink by Typing "Barbie Movie" Into Search

Sep 27, 2023Sep 27, 2023

Google packs plenty of Easter eggs, and its latest celebrates one of 2023's biggest film releases. Here's how you can turn Google pink for Barbie.

Taking the internet by storm, the Barbie movie hit theatres on July 21st, 2023, and Google is among the companies that have taken part in promoting the film. It does so by implementing an immersive Easter egg which completely changes the search engine's user interface.

Google Easter eggs are not something new, and many users find them to be a nice addition that can liven up their search results. Fancy a taste of Barbie world? Here's how you can turn Google pink with the Easter egg.

Anyone who's ever owned a Barbie knows that the color most associated with the doll is pink. You'll find plenty of the color in the film, and in all adverts associated with it.

In keeping with the tone of the film, Google introduced a special Easter egg in its search engine, one that changes the entire Search interface and makes everything pink and sparkly.

This isn't the first time Google introduced an Easter egg with a pink theme. Back in 2001, when the movie Legally Blonde came out, Google released a nearly identical Easter egg. That one featured the main character's Chihuahua instead of the sparkling animations.

To give Google a complete Barbie makeover, here's what you need to do:

Your Google search results should now load as with any other query. However, after a few seconds, the entire UI, including the text, will turn into different shades of pink. Additionally, sparkles will appear all over your screen for a couple of seconds.

We tested this neat Easter egg on several web browsers. We tried it on Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Opera, Opera GX, Vivaldi, Brave, and DuckDuckGo, and it worked perfectly every single time.

However, there are a few things you should keep in mind that may prevent this Easter egg from triggering:

This transformation will trigger regardless of your browser's visual settings. This includes enabling Dark Mode or using the Force Dark Pages feature.

There's no doubt that there's a renewed interest in the Barbie brand, and Google's Easter egg is proof of that. While it doesn't provide anything other than some eye candy, it's definitely one of those elements that make you want to search for the topic even more.

Google has plenty of other Easter eggs as well. They're usually related to TV shows and movies that show a lot of promise, and Google tends not to remove them, even years after they've finished airing.
